Beach hours and walking paths
Carbis Bay excludes dogs from 10am to 6pm, 15 May-30 September. At Praa Sands and Portreath, those hours apply only in July and August. Hayle Estuary, Carnsew Pool and Copperhouse Pool exclude dogs all year. Porthkidney welcomes dogs year-round, but use a lead on the St Uny Church access path. Expect steps and no close beach parking.
Tehidy's mainly level North Cliffs circuit is a dog-walking alternative to the beach. Dogs cannot use the lakes circuit, so follow the signed dog routes rather than assuming every path is open to them.
For a Pendeen or St Just stay, the Botallack and Kenidjack coastal circuit offers a 3.5-mile walk, rated moderate by the National Trust. Keep dogs on leads: the route includes cliffs, mine shafts, uneven paths and livestock. Allow around two hours, and choose a shorter outing if that terrain does not suit your dog.
Mining coast to Rezare
How the Cornwall areas differ
Choose Pendeen or St Just for the mining coast, Carbis Bay or Praa Sands for a beach stay, and Rezare for an inland farmhouse stay. The areas below explain the differences in outdoor space and booking rules.
Pendeen
Carn House and Little Victory suit two people; Victory View sleeps four. All three have enclosed outdoor space. Carn House is adults-only, takes one dog and has a heated dog shower. Victory View and Little Victory each allow two dogs. From April to September, Victory View takes weekly bookings starting on Saturday.
St Just
Broadlands sleeps eight and The Old Forge six, each with an enclosed lawn and room for two dogs. The Old Forge charges 25 pounds per dog per week. Broadlands has single-storey rooms but steps to the entrance and garden, with several levels outside. Its hot tub is drained before arrival and can take up to ten hours to heat.
Carbis Bay
Bayvista sleeps four and has a sea-view hot tub; its front outdoor space is reached through a bedroom, and the access gate may not secure reliably. Villa 80 offers a four-person resort stay with private decking rather than an enclosed garden. Villa 80 lists a seasonal 150-pound hot tub supplement; confirm whether it applies to your dates.
Hayle
Hayle has stays for two, six or ten people. Riviere House has a pond and communal play equipment; its private garden boundary is unclear. Riviere Barton's open driveway needs dog supervision. Godrevy Barn accepts no children over two. Its hot tub costs 42 pounds for November-February stays and must be selected when booking.
Portreath
At Bimbling Cottage, ask whether the rear hot tub garden is enclosed; arrivals are Saturdays only, EV charging is banned and extra pets need agreement. Petroc, Adelaide and Pentewan - 67 have enclosed decks, not enclosed lawns. Petroc keeps dogs off beds. Adelaide's pet fee is 30 pounds, with no weekly or per-stay rate specified; school-holiday stays are seven nights. Petroc's and Adelaide's hot tubs may still be warming on arrival.
Praa Sands
Four-level Sandbanks has an enclosed rear lawn but an open front driveway. Sea Sands has entrance steps and a 50-pound charge per pet; the listing does not say how long that covers. Dogs stay downstairs and off furniture; visitors, barbecues and EV charging are prohibited. Its hot tub is normally 38C with limited controls; engineer adjustments cost extra. Sandy Cove's hot tub closes at 10pm.
Penzance and St Buryan
Cornerstone sleeps eight on Penzance's edge, with a pond needing supervision and audible A30 traffic. Borah Lodge and Meadowside are rural farm stays around St Buryan, sleeping two and four. Farm dogs may approach, and Meadowside's low wall will not contain every dog. Borah has open grounds; confirm puppy acceptance if travelling with a young dog.
Rezare
Spring Park Farmhouse offers an inland Cornwall stay for seven people and two dogs. The garden is open and other holiday units share the site, so it suits dogs comfortable with that setting. The wood-fired hot tub needs heating. Approach on rural lanes; this is a countryside base rather than a coastal stay.
